Conservation-Led Ocean Travel in the Western Indian Ocean

Seas4life

Protecting the seas is our core business

We specialise in conservation-led ocean travel in the Western Indian Ocean and lesser-known corners of the Red Sea. Our mission is to create immersive journeys that celebrate the ocean’s fragile beauty while supporting those working tirelessly to protect it. Every trip is thoughtfully designed to bring travellers closer to marine life, coastal communities, and the untold stories of the sea.

Journeys with Purpose

Adventure shaped by science, sustainability and fun

Each journey with Seas4life is exclusively curated. Whether by catamaran, dhow, liveaboard, super-yacht or private villa, our trips are led by experienced guides and grounded in conservation science. From the moment you arrive, you are immersed in a world of discovery: diving, snorkelling, paddleboarding, and exploring marine ecosystems through the eyes of local experts. Our experiences are purposeful, personal, and often transformative — crafted to connect you to the ocean in lasting and meaningful ways.

Why We Do What We Do

A passion for marine life and a drive to protect it

The Western Indian Ocean is the world’s second most biodiverse marine region — unique, complex, and underrepresented in the world of travel. Our goal is to change that. Seas4life was born out of a desire to do good business with real impact. Every itinerary offers not just adventure but an opportunity to connect with local conservationists, researchers and community leaders.
Guests might find themselves snorkelling with foraging hawksbill turtles alongside former fishers turned marine stewards, identifying individuals for research databases. Or heading out at dawn to observe humpback whales with marine mammal scientists. Our trips show what’s possible when travel is used to educate, empower and protect.

Julie Church – Founder

From Kenyan coastlines to global marine change

My love of the ocean started at age seven on the Kenyan coast — I never wanted to leave it. After working with WWF and Kenya Wildlife Services leading the Kiunga Marine National Reserve, I went on to found and lead Ocean Sole. Seas4life came to life in 2019, inspired by a deeply personal loss and a determination to channel purpose into action.
One defining moment was diving at Ras Shaab Rumi, Sudan — the site of Jacques Cousteau’s ‘Conshelf’ experiment. Descending to 45m, I was surrounded by over 50 hammerhead sharks, greys, silkies, and shoals of reef fish. It was unforgettable, and affirmed why I do this work: to help others connect to these rare, vulnerable places before they’re gone.

Journeys to Remember

Transformative travel for families, explorers and future changemakers

I hosted a family in Watamu, Kenya and over six days, they experienced the full spectrum of what we offer: snorkelling with hawksbill turtles, visiting marine rehabilitation centres, joining community-led bird monitoring projects, and swimming with blacktip reef sharks. They even helped identify sea turtles for scientific records.
We explored mangroves by paddleboard, observed humpbacks with researchers, released a green turtle with a veteran conservationist, and witnessed both healthy and threatened reef systems. The children learned about venom extraction at the local snake farm and roamed the ruins of a 12th-century coastal town. It was deeply enriching for all — a trip that led to lasting friendships and continued engagement.

Powered by People, Driven by Purpose

Local expertise, global impact

At the heart of Seas4life is a team of marine biologists, conservationists, educators and local guides, all deeply rooted in the Western Indian Ocean. Their knowledge gives our guests access to places and wildlife few ever see. We offer each traveller a reference book introducing six key marine ecosystems, species ID guides, and a sense of what marine conservation looks like in action.
We’re here to build blue consciousness — to create travel that inspires awe, strengthens communities, and protects the seas we depend on.
