Buonanotte Barbanera

Our philosophy: give the guests more than they expect

At Buonanotte Barbanera, this philosophy is at the heart of everything we do. Nestled at the edge of Spello’s historic old town, our five unique properties offer guests an authentic experience of Italian village life, complete with breathtaking views of the Chiona Valley and rolling Umbrian hills.

Our collection of distinctive retreats in the heart of Spello

Live life the Italian way for a while

Each home is just a short stroll from Piazza della Repubblica, where guests can immerse themselves in the vibrant culture of Spello. Whether it’s discovering charming restaurants, browsing local boutiques, or picking up fresh produce from the grocer, everything is within reach, allowing guests to live like a true local.

A journey through time and place

We honour the past and enrich it with our own stories

My journey as a host began in 2007 when I transformed my first home, Villa Buonanotte Barbanera, into a guest retreat. This villa was not just a house—it was my personal sanctuary, a home my husband Feliciano and I lovingly restored after moving to Spello. With its foundations in a 17th-century church, we carefully renovated it, ensuring the past remained honoured while adding layers of character through treasures collected from our global travels. Moroccan carpets, Chinese and Indian furniture, and exquisite flea market finds make this villa a tapestry of memories.

A passion for design and hospitality

My background in hospitality comes from my family’s hotel business in the Tyrolean Alps. Having studied hotel management in Innsbruck and later honing my skills in France, London, and Rome, I developed a deep appreciation for both service and design. This reflects in each of my properties—every detail is intentional, every corner carefully curated. I would never place anything in my guest homes that I wouldn’t want in my own home.

Each property has its own history

New life is breathed into each retreat with care

Encouraged by the success of Buonanotte Barbanera, I expanded in 2009 with La Casetta, then Casa Giardino in 2012, Limone in 2016, and finally Il Cortile in 2019. Each property had its own history, often in dire need of restoration, but I took great care in bringing them back to life with unique styles and personal touches.

Homes with a personality

Each of my properties tells a different story

My love for colours and artistic expression has been with me since childhood. Today, that same passion lives on in these homes, where I strive to create vibrant, inspiring spaces that guests will cherish. I take immense pride in hearing my guests say, “It’s even more beautiful than the photos.” Many are so inspired that they ask me for design advice or even wish to purchase some of the pieces they see in my homes.

Beyond accommodation

I create an experience

At Buonanotte Barbanera, I go beyond offering a place to stay—I create an experience. Upon request, guests can enjoy personalised activities, including cooking classes, private chef services, treasure hunts, wine tastings, and curated shopping excursions. My goal is to make each stay unforgettable, immersing guests in the beauty, flavours, and traditions of Umbria. I look forward to welcoming you to my world, where each home has a soul, each detail a story, and each stay a lasting memory.
