Why this community of experts work differently

Recently, I had a guest ask for a line-by-line description of every element of their trip. I found myself genuinely struggling with how to respond. I needed to step back and reflect before I could find the right words.

Every single expert who is a part of Your World is Calling would find this request difficult — and that is because we operate very differently from traditional travel companies. The same is true of my own work with Swisskisafari.

Firstly, we all live in the places where we work. We prioritise the relationships within our local networks, many of which have been built over decades. After twenty years of working with the same people, these connections often become friendships — and sometimes family.

These are our networks, who will do far more than simply cook your lunch. They will jump in the car to collect guests when something unexpected happens on the trail. They will step in to take care of guests if we are suddenly called away to deal with an emergency elsewhere. In my own case, it might be the head of security at a ski station who keeps the lifts running after closing time because your off-piste adventure with ten guests has gone well over schedule.
