Privately guided Alpine Experiences

swisskisafari

It’s all about you and the mountain

Swisskisafari is based in Switzerland and specialises in privately guided trips through the Alps across Italy, Switzerland and France. Our trips combine different cultures, languages, food and wine while exploring by foot, ski and bike. All of our trips are small, private and designed especially for you and your group. Our professional guides all live locally and help you explore the hidden corners of the Alps, finding spectacular places that are off the beaten track. Our trips are about authenticity, discovery and activity. We believe that getting out into nature is what makes all the difference and makes us feel alive.

Private experiences in the Alps

‘One day we will not be able to do this, but today is not that day’

This is absolutely our motto as we are all privileged to be able to travel through the Alps actively. We want to help each one of you access the best of the Alps with our privately guided Alpine experiences. These are the areas that really require professional guidance in order to navigate the environment. Our speciality is to help you have the ultimate experience of the Alps through unique adventures, in the safe hands of our professionals. The Alps are different for everyone. You may be looking to push yourself to test your limits. Others may be looking for help to relax and unwind, thinking of nothing but the next step in front of them. All of our trips, whether for curious beginners or elite athletes, are set to the backdrop of the stunning Alpine environment.

What people enjoy the most

Being welcomed like a local

After 20 years in the business, the people that we visit along the way have become family and an integral part of each trip. Living and operating in the area means we can show you the authentic Alps and introduce you to the locals. After an adventurous ski descent alone in a snow-covered valley, a local welcome in a small village warms the heart. It is not just the raging fireplace and the delicious meal that makes the perfect ending to the day. These parts of the Alps, tucked between the famous glitzy resorts and the small typical villages, are where you start to come down to earth and find the perfect balance between luxury and authenticity. All the while being on the inside track.

DANIELLE STYNES - FOUNDER

Getting people out into nature is what drives me

I find the Alps a wonderful playground for anyone who enjoys being active. I also appreciate the culture, languages, wine and food, so putting this all together creates the ultimate combination for me. When I started this business, a trip that was physically challenging did not include luxury. Of course, not all of our trips are physically challenging but more and more I find that many people are looking for a good challenge and adventure without needing to sacrifice comfort. In fact, comfort, culture and sophistication are equally important on these trips. I like to think that I can help those who want to really explore and get off the beaten track and yet do not have the time to train like they used to.

Superpower you ask?

What a great question to ask

I think what my team and I do really well is turn what someone has in their imagination into reality. I think we do this well because we can put ourselves into the place of the person who is communicating their dream trip to us. I often say to my guides, “don’t forget that you do this every day”. Our job is to make what we do every day manageable and enjoyable so that it becomes within reach of people who only have a limited amount of time to train for a trip like this. If that’s powder skiing from mountain to mountain, we might use a helicopter to do some of the heavy lifting. I remember one trip when we had a client whose knees where a problem so we designed a ski touring trip where they went uphill only and we took care of the downhill. We love getting creative to think up these out-of-the-box solutions to make what we do accessible to all.

Our most memorable Alpine experience

One trip sticks in our minds

This is because of the incredible creativity of the group’s organiser. He was a friend who wanted to blow people away with an amazing birthday experience. Ten years on they tell me that they still talk about this trip. This is probably because it was such a mix of challenging skiing, elegant evenings and a surprising highlight expedition which found them climbing a mountain on skis and sleeping in a wooden refuge high in the mountains. The trip included formal evenings, skiing from a helicopter and skiing incognito in costumes. Trips like these are a blast and a lifetime of memories. So once again, “one day we will not be able to do this, but today is not that day”. We think life is too short to not have the privilege of enjoying a privately guided alpine experience.
