Contemporary Maasai beadwork, reimagined

Sidai Designs

With a background in design and a passion for purpose, the founder of Sidai Designs brings traditional Maasai beadwork into a new era, beautifully, and responsibly.

Good enough is not enough

The only phrase I ever use, and the one that drives everything I do, is: “Good enough is not enough.” I learned it from a legendary ad exec and it really stuck with me.
It’s a mindset that keeps me pushing for excellence, even in the smallest details, and it’s something that comes through in both my work and my values.

How it all began

After nearly 20 years doing design work in corporate America, I wanted to shift into work that gives back. Discovering the Maasai’s untapped beadwork potential in the international marketplace — and the opportunity to empower women through it — starting Sidai Designs felt like the perfect fit.

What we create and how

We create jewellery and home décor deeply rooted in, and inspired by, traditional Maasai craftsmanship and design elements.
We elevate traditional Maasai design by combining it with modern materials and transforming it into pieces that are refined and market-ready for an international audience. Our process begins with traditional Maasai design inspiration, which we translate into modern concepts through collaboration between designers and artisans. We then select and combine high-quality materials — like glass beads, gold-filled or sterling silver components, and sometimes precious stones.

What I love most

What I love most is seeing the beautiful pieces we create — and the pride our artisans feel knowing they’re part of something bigger. Their growth, confidence, and success in life are deeply tied to ours, and that connection gives every piece even more meaning.
